Anti-Virus Scanner Runs High When Viewing Worklist

Post by Shandy Elliott »

I have Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2010. When working in a worklist, avg.exe (Kaspersky application executable) runs at about 40-60%+ the whole time I'm in the Worklist view. I have several different worklists, and avg.exe seems to run high when I have more fonts in that particular worklist group. In one example, I have a worklist of about 50 fonts and avg.exe runs normal. In another worklist of about 1000 fonts, avg.exe will run high until I exit that worklist.

Does this mean some fonts could be corrupt, or is it possible FontExpert is doing something in the background in which my anti-virus is paying more attention to? I don't know if I should troubleshoot further with FontExpert or Kaspersky.

Anti-virus programs usually intercept file operations and check each file being copied.

To prepare a preview of the font, FontExpert copies the font file from original folder to the standard temporary folder (so called TEMP folder). FontExpert does not modify font files, only copies original files. While you preview fonts in FontExpert, FontExpert creates temporary files in TEMP folder and then deletes them.

I'm not familiar with the latest version of Kaspersky AV software but the solution could be to mark "trusted programs" in AV (if this feature is supported).
