Are you getting error when you back up, if so i found that it was to do with font dates by removing very old fonts just a couple or so the back up worked again.

Here is my original post hope it helps.

Hi,
I have created backup from FontExpert 2015. No errors detected.
From newest version FontExpert 2018 34-bit there is no way to restore.
Screen: [img]jerzy.waw.pl/download/2018_Restore_inactive_options.jpg[/img]
I have The same situation when trying to restore if i have only clean installation of FontExpert 2015.
I can see only inactive options to restore Library, Groups and Tags.

We have found that this may happen because the file size exceeded ~ 1.2 GB and the information file (backup.inf) was not added to backup ZIP file.
We work on this issue.

To recover the backup ZIP:

(1) Make sure the backup ZIP includes backup.inf file in the root.
If your ZIP file does not include backup.inf file, create text file in Notepad with the following contents
(replace XXXXX by your user name on the computer where the backup has been created):

[Generic]
AppCreated=FontExpert 2016 Version: 14.0 Release 1
ComputerName=XXXXX
DateCreated=22.05.2017 21:07:31
UserName=XXXXX
[Special Folders]
AppData=C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming
Common AppData=C:\ProgramData
Common Documents=C:\Users\Public\Documents
Fonts=C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
Local AppData=C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local
My Documents=C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents
My Pictures=C:\Users\XXXXX\Pictures
Program Files=C:\Program Files
[Drive Types]
C=fixed
D=fixed
E=cd/dvd

(2) Make sure the file is not too big.
If it exceeds 1.2 GB, try to split this zip file into two smaller ZIP files.

For example, typical backup ZIP file contains folders with fonts and several root files:
{Library}\DE\
{Library}\MO\
{Library}\NO\
{Library}\SC\
{Library}\SE\
{Library}\SS\
tags.fetg
groups.dbini
backup.inf

If ZIP file is too big, split it into two smaller ZIP files (use any utility that can work with ZIP files of big size):

FILE 1:

{Library}\DE\
{Library}\MO\
{Library}\NO\
tags.fetg
groups.dbini
backup.inf

FILE 2:

{Library}\SC\
{Library}\SE\
{Library}\SS\
tags.fetg
groups.dbini
backup.inf

The latest versions does not have 1.2 GB limitation on backup ZIP file size. The Backup / Restore feature in version 16.0 was tested with a Library containing more than 20,000 fonts and resulting backup ZIP file size more than 3 GB.
