Re: Fonts stop to work
We have received similar reports from users who installed Windows system updates. More likely the issue appears after installing Windows 10 Creators Update. (Although this information is preliminary. On user thinks the problem appeared after installing Net Framework update.) The issue appears after ...

Re: Setting Tags for the fonts
There is a special search box on the upper toolbar to search by font name. And to search by keywords and other tags use Search Library.

Re: Updating Font Library
The fonts are in special folder, called LIB, you can find it from Options. Tools/Options.../General, FontExpert app data folder, press "Go to Folder" button. But do not move or delete files within this folder, as FontExpert database refer to the fonts in this folder. When you do Backup, th...

Re: Updating Font Library
Font items in Groups node of Fonts view are links to physical fonts in Library. For example, if you have 5 fonts named MyFont in 5 different groups, all of them will refer to the same physical font in Library. (One note. FontExpert adds unique font files to Library. If at least one byte in file is d...

Re: Updating Font Library
Do you mean source folders? For example, if you have c:\MyFonts1\ folder with fonts and add them to FontExpert library, FontExpert copies font files from source folder to a special folder, called LIB (and font information to database file). FontExpert only copies unique fonts. If you add new 3 fonts...

Re: Setting Tags for the fonts
There are many strategies how to use tags. For example, you can delete all categories that were added by default, and create your own categories for your own classification of your fonts. Keyword is one or two short words (can be more than two words). While caption can be a long phrase. You can assi...

Re: Updating Font Library
Font Library contains fonts that you explicitly added to library from anywhere (from your folders). Groups are links to the fonts in Library. If you delete any font items within Groups node, the fonts still remain in Library. What is only needed and recommended is making Backup of font library and g...

Re: Merge font family into one file/menu item
This is possible for Adobe because Myriad Pro and Minion Pro are native Adobe fonts, they KNOW that they can group more than 4 fonts into one logical family, but for the rest of Windows applications this font appears as different families, no more than 4 fonts in one family. If you install two fonts...

Re: Merge font family into one file/menu item
Windows groups fonts by Family name and it allows 4 fonts per family (Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic). So the font designers usually make "Condensed", "Light", etc. a part of family name. For example, "MyFont Condensed" becomes a family name for condensed regular My...

Re: Sharing font library between pc:s
The recommended way in this version is to create full backup and restore the backup on another computer. Or if the set of fonts is the same on all computers and you only need to synchronize keywords and other tags, you can Export Tags... and Import Tags... on anorher computer. (In version 14 tags ar...

Re: More main Librarys
I think having two or more main libraries is an idea with big disadvantages. Fonts will be distributed among two libraries and 1) you will not be able to find two fonts having the same name of different types if you put them into different libraries (like "My Font 1"/OpenType and "My ...

Re: Fonts stop to work
Please send me the problem fonts ( support (at) proximasoftware (dot) com ), I'll try to test them and find out why the preview is empty image. FontExpert uses some defined symbols in a font to generate preview. So if it can not find symbols, the thumbnail appears like a white space. But it seems th...

Re: Corrupted font files
FontExpert ignores corrupted fonts and does not add them to library. It does not provide a list of corrupted fonts during "Add to Library" procedure, but it writes all paths to all corrupted fonts in the log files: C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Proxima Software\FontExpert\14.0\LIB\A...
