Hi,

just got a note that there is a new FontExpert version released.

I own (and love) FontExpert 2014 but was wondering if I can install the trial version of FontExpert 2019 next to the old version, without messing things up? Just to see if I like it?

Thanks for a great tool.

Yes, you can have version 2014 and 2019 installed together. Both version will work on the same computer.
1) I recommend you to try 64-bit version 16.0 and in this case it is not needed even to change the default installation path.
(License key works for both 64-bit and 32-bit build and you only need 32-bit build if you have an old operating system like Windows XP and old computer with 32-bit processor.)

FontExpert 2014 is 32-bit and it is usually installed in folder:
c:\Program Files (x86)\FontExpert

FontExpert 2019 16.0 x64 by default is installed in folder:
c:\Program Files\FontExpert

2) As a second step, to convert Groups from old version to new version, create a backup in version 2014 (Tools/Create Backup...) and use the created ZIP as an input of in FontExpert 2019 (Tools/Restore from Backup...).

But there is one trick:
3) Uninstallation of FontExpert spoils some things in another "parallel" version (it clears registration of FontExpertAdmin object used for permanent installation of fonts).
So if you uninstall FontExpert you need to run setup of the version you leave. Run setup and choose Restore or Update.

For example, if you installed version 16.0, then uninstalled version 14.0, run setup of version 16.0 once again (over existing installation). This is needed to do only once.
