Renaming file names - need to update shortcuts

I have about 30k fonts. To avoid taking more space, when I add fonts to "groups", I use the "link" option. However, after using that ... I can't rename font files anymore ... the shortcuts won't work after I rename the original file. Would it be possible to add a "rename and change path" feature to update shortcuts ?

Thank you for pointing to this issue. You are right, existing links in Groups view should be also updated after files were renamed. This should be fixed in the following release.

similarly, when we delete duplicates, there should be a feature to insure that all the "links" (when we add a font to a group) remain valid, even though they point to a deleted file ...

This is a task that I've already been doing. I don't like the cryptic names that developers give the font files, as it makes it very time consuming to locate a particular font from a file listing. If you choose the link option when adding to a group, then rename the file/link from within Font Expert instead of the source file, Font Expert will rename the the source file to match the new name given to the link. Maybe this is by accident, but it's very convenient for renaming files.

Yes, this works: if you rename the shortcut file name, FontExpert will also rename the corresponding target file.

(But if you rename the target font file, version 8 will not update the shortcut that points to the renamed file.)
