Maintenance getting slower and slower

Post by Bluesman »

New problem. The more I admin and maintenance in FontExpert the slower it gets. I am erasing fonts all the time, ttf substituted with otf... but in general decreasing the amount. Has erased about 20.000 fonts. But the software gets slower when updating and sorting fonts to "Groups". More and more often I get the window that tells the software has no connection, and I choose "Wait for connection" because I don't wanna loose the settings I done.
Is there a way to refresh the software memory or database indexing??

How the groups are organized? In FontExpert 2016 version 14.0 try to keep no more than 500 fonts within one group.
If you have more than 500, than it will take some visibly time to display the contents of this group.

I' now re-organizing the fonts in FontExpert. Mostly because of the failing backup function. I'm removing almost all group and make this with the "Tags" instead... so maybe something good will endup?

For the backup zip file which is missing backup.inf file, can you please tell the size of the ZIP file?
(We cannot reproduce the issue. Resulting backup zip file size during tests was about 1.2 GB.)

Now when cleaning up the ttf library the backup size is 720mb. Reduced from 75.000 fonts to 25.000.
